Most budget beds are split between Quepos, the actual town 7km north of the park entrance, and the hostels strung along Route 618 as it climbs toward the park gate. Quepos gives you the bus terminal, the Mercado Municipal for cheap casados, and prices that drop noticeably once you're away from the park-side strip.
Getting around
- The public bus between Quepos and the park entrance runs roughly every 30 minutes and costs next to nothing each way. There is no reason to pay for a taxi or shared shuttle if you're based in Quepos.
