- ATMs on Main Bazaar Road run dry in July and August. Pull enough cash in Delhi or Srinagar before you arrive. The ICICI branch near the main roundabout is the most reliable, but even it runs out on busy weekends.
- Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, and Tso Moriri all need an Inner Line Permit, now collected as an Environment and Development Fee of a few hundred rupees plus a small daily wildlife charge. Apply online before you arrive, or same-day at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Fort Road, and carry the printed receipt.
